 What is Legacy Giving?

A Gift in a Will is a way of leaving something to a person or group after you die. This Gift can take different forms - money, part of your estate, or belongings. When creating a Will, many people choose to leave most of their money/possessions to family and close friends, and if they have a personal connection to a cause - a charity close to their heart.

 How does it help?

Every good charity lives in two timelines.

We are here in the present, providing vital support where and when it’s needed most. At the same time, we’re looking to the future, asking how we can keep delivering that care, how we can grow new services, and how we can make sure our charity is still here decades from now.

Leaving a Gift in your Will helps us do exactly that. It gives us the security to plan ahead with confidence and the resources to aim bigger for the people we support.

Your Legacy could:

  • Fund a research student working towards better treatments for GBS.

  • Provide emotional support to those diagnosed with CIDP in the future.

  • Help adapt a home for a person living with MMN, so they can stay independent.

A Legacy Gift doesn’t just support us, it supports our community for generations to come.

What kind of Gift can I leave?

There are two primary ways to include a Gift.

A Residuary Gift: A percentage share of your estate (money, property, possessions) once all other payments and Gifts have been made.

A Pecuniary Gift: A fixed amount of money

How much you leave is entirely up to you, if you'd like to talk to us about your Gift and how it can be used, please reach out to us.

Anything you include to charity is free of Inheritance Tax. By including 10% of your estate to charity you can reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax you pay and support a cause close to your heart.

How can I leave a Gift?

If you have an existing Will, or have a Solicitor

If you have a Will in place but wish to change/alter it to leave a Gift to Inflammatory Neuropathies UK, this is called an amendment or adjustment. You can speak to your current Solicitor, if you have one, about this.

If you don't have a Will in place, or a Solicitor

If you don't have a Solicitor in place, it can be a little daunting knowing where to start. You can speak to friends and family for recommendations in your local area, or you can use one of our trusted Will writing partners.
